Surgical Oncology is a broad field of surgery which specializes in the surgical management of cancer.  Surgical Oncologists work closely with Medical and Radiation Oncologists.

Surgical Oncology encompasses every discipline of surgery and Surgical Oncologists have undergone extensive training in the multidisciplinary approach to cancer treatment. 

Objectives

After completing this module you will be able to:

• describe the practice of surgical oncology as it relates to other surgical specialties and to oncology

• explain role of surgical oncology in all aspects of cancer care (prevention to palliation)
