Oncology Pharmacists
The pharmacist plays an important role in the oncology team by providing drug information to patients, physicians and nurses. Their duties include but are not limited to:
Counselling patients regarding the treatment they are receiving
Monitoring and managing side effects of drugs, adverse reactions and drug interactions
Obtaining accurate medication histories
Reviewing chemotherapy orders for accuracy and providing recommendations for dosing adjustments
Organizing and facilitating the attainment of drugs on discharge
Provision of safe and accurate chemotherapy drugs
Development of guidelines and standardized practices
